Butterfly blunder
Just to correct the identification of the lovely butterfly
on your Spring issue cover and on page 8: it's a Milbert's Tortoiseshell, not a
Monarch. The one shown on page 20 is a Monarch. The tortoiseshell is mainly
found west of the plains and at higher elevations. We get it here in the South
Okanagan Valley in early spring and then in the mountains in the summer. There
are relatively few Monarchs in Western North America. The Eastern population
was always much larger, but the Western one seems to be declining.

A number of our readers caught this error, which was an
editorial slip-up, and not the mistake of our nature columnist, Rebecca Grambo.
Greenhouse gardening
Thank you for such an awesome magazine! Acreage Life has the
best photos and articles. It really helps me appreciate the country lifestyle.
I am very interested in garden greenhouses. I would really
like to build my own, maybe 8 x 12 feet. I'd like something glass and permanent
for year-round use. Do you have any ideas and information?
