Winning photos
It was a pleasure to see my photo among the winners in your last issue. Thanks for the beautiful set of Acreage Life tools, an Honourable Mention prize.
We very much enjoy your magazine and wish you continued success.

How to read a magazine
You get a new mag and scroll through anxiously looking at pictures and scanning the editorial.
Once that's complete, you settle in and read the ones that most appeal to you and then start back at the beginning and read it from front to back. Confessions of a true mag nut!
I love your magazine: I'm partial to all things country. I really like the name Acreage Life and know exactly what it means, since my husband and I own 150 acres. We are not farmers, but I had a dream of owning a century home and almost 10 years ago my wish was granted.

Thanks, Kimberly. I should note that many of us mag nuts read from back to front.
Classified information
I have recently started reading your magazine and I enjoy it. We have been rebuilding an abandoned homestead for the past three years, and we are raising Spanish/cashmere meat goats.
I would love to see a classified section selling specialty livestock and country style stores catering to acreage owners. The magazine could also have local tourism sections promoting country outings for non-acreage owners.

We appreciate your suggestions! Watch for a tourism feature in our June issue.
Masonry fireplaces
Your magazine has lots of wonderful information and great ideas. Some time ago, you had a story about a special stone fireplace that can heat your house for as long as 12 hours in one burn. Can you direct me to the article? We're looking at building a new house in the country. We'd like to make it more self-sufficient with solar power, geothermal or a stone fireplace.

Best of luck with your building project. The story about masonry heaters was in our Winter 2006-07 issue (pages 38-39). Canadian dealers are included in the Masonry Heater Association Member List: http://mha-net.org/html/members.htm. For back issues of Acreage Life or to subscribe, contact our Subscriptions Department: 1-800-667-6929.
Off the grid
As we're building an off-grid home, I'd like information about off-grid living, solar, wind power, high-efficiency appliances, etc. Your article on geothermal (Fall 2007) was great.Art MacKay

We'll continue to explore such topics. Our Winter 2007 issue had a solar energy story, and you can read about grain-burning stoves in this issue (page 26.)
